Prelim: Shot List

Front cover shot - I was inspired to draw this pose from the Vogue, Rihanna issue, cover which was preferred from most of my respondents of my audience research. I think this pose reflects my target audience's preferences, as it is quite simple. This shot is taken from a slight low angle to show off the outside location of the photograph and the clothes being worn by the model. A medium shot is used to cause the reader to focus on the top half of the clothing and the model's expression.
Front cover shot -This shot is based more on the model's facial expression, hair and makeup. This would allow model to reflect the theme and message of the cover through her personal presentation. This photograph will be taken from a flight low angle and  medium close-up. This will cause the reader to again concentrate on the details of the clothing rather than the overall look. This will again be set outside to reflect the natural theme which may be taken away from the cosmetics the model may choose to wear which is amplified due to the medium close-up shot.
Front cover shot - This shot is inspired by an i-D magazine cover, featuring SZA. This pose is taken from a low angle in order to emphasise the model's top half of her outfit. Much like the i-D cover a bold colour, like red, can be used with this cover to create a strong focal point of the piece. It also distracts the audience from the models face which again highlights the clothing of the model rather than the actual person. This will be taken from a medium shot again to highlight the models obscure pose and bold clothing.  The subversion of the angle of gaze makes this  a unique magazine which may interest the reader into picking up as it is 'different'
Contents page shot - This photograph is used within the magazine as it brings the reader into the articles as it causes them to feel relaxed, as they are brought to the floor. This sitting down position - through a long shot - the reader is able to see the models full outfit, revealing to them the full style once they are influenced to open it up. The low angle again shows the model as relaxed and draws attention to the clothing and overall look, including the models facial expression. The shot is based inside as it takes the reader to a different location, leading the viewer to believe the magazine has a diverse theme which can be expressed in many locations and not just outside.

Contents page shot - this portrait presents a different perspective of the model and the magazine as it subverts the convention of the direct angle of gaze. The absence of eye contact also adds a curious element to the image as the audience knows not of what is attracting the model beyond the frame. The model's body position adds a more preserved and formal look to the shot as it presents a different perspective on relaxation and the youth. The low angle again adds to the mystery of there being more to the image than what is displayed in the frame.

Contents page shot - This two shot image gives the viewer an alternative subject to concentrate on rather than the initial model of the cover. Including a female and a male in the image could also help appeal the magazine to both genders. The use of two models will expand the identity of the magazine beyond one focal person. This medium-long shot would also give the reader a clear sense of fashion style which the magazine represents. It can also link to the contents articles presented on the page, for example linking to articles on fashion tips and in trend styles.
